Awareness Campaign on Drug Abuse and HIV/AIDS Prevention

The Red Ribbon Club of Mahatma Gandhi Government Engineering College, Kotla (Jeori) recently organized a series of successful programs to raise awareness about drug abuse and the prevention of HIV/AIDS. The events witnessed active participation from both college students and the local community.

The programs began with a flash mob on the college campus, followed by a reel-making competition where students creatively expressed their views on these critical social issues. The highlight of the day was a powerful walkathon rally from the college to Jury, which concluded with another flash mob in Jury. These activities aimed to reach the local public and spread the message about the dangers of drug consumption and the importance of HIV/AIDS prevention.

According to the notification, a spot round for admission to B.Tech (First Year) will be conducted at Mahatma Gandhi Government Engineering College, Kotla (Jeori) on 12-09-2025. Interested candidates can report to the college on the same day between 09:30 AM and 11:30 AM.

At present, the college is offering two branches: Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Candidates are required to bring the original copies of all documents/certificates along with one set of self-attested photocopies for submission.

Awareness Program on Disaster Management by NDRF Team

At Mahatma Gandhi Government Engineering College, Kotla, on Monday, an awareness program was organized by the NDRF team to provide information about first aid, treatment methods, and life-saving techniques during disasters. Special emphasis was given to injuries and sharing of information.

On this occasion, the NDRF team created awareness among the students about disaster management and primary treatment in case of emergencies. The team, led by SI (Assistant Sub-Inspector) Ashok Chand Somola, demonstrated technical rescue methods.

The program was conducted under the guidance of college principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Vice-Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar, and Assistant Principal Dr. Ashok Chand Somola. Faculty members including Mr. Vikas Bharti along with all the students remained actively present throughout the session.

  NCC Camp
NCC Camp The Annual NCC Training Camp was organized at Government College, Sunni, District Shimla, from 3 August to 11 August 2025. As part of the camp, an intensive disaster management training programme was conducted under the Yuva Aapda Mitra scheme.
A total of 100 cadets from the 8 Himachal Pradesh NCC Battalion, Rampur Bushahr, and 8 cadets from Mahatma Gandhi Government Engineering College (MGGEC), Kotla (Jeori), actively participated in the programme. The camp was conducted under the supervision of the 7 Himachal Pradesh NCC Company, Shimla, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Praveen.

  International youth Day 2025
International youth Day 2025 Mahatma Gandhi Government Engineering College celebrated Youth Day with great enthusiasm under the Red Ribbon Club, aiming to promote social awareness, leadership, and positive energy among youth. The event began with a lamp-lighting ceremony by dignitaries and was graced by distinguished guests from NGOs, health departments, and local ASHA workers. The programme featured cultural performances, a declamation competition, songs, a pledge on HIV awareness, and an awareness session on health and social issues. Special guests included Ms. Pratibha Kumari (President, NGO Association of Social Health) and Mrs. Bindu (Mahatma Gandhi Government Hospital, Khaneri, Rampur), along with other eminent personalities.
